    Once again the PC Twin Cities Area group invites you to take 90 minutes out of your busy life to slow down, meditate and pray with us.  We gather the fourth Saturday of the month at the Parish House of St. Joan of Arc Church in south Minneapolis.  Below is a reflection piece chosen for our discussion following the meditation.  Please join us if you are able.

    Peacemaking Is Hard by Jim Douglass

    For years, peacemakers have felt the sting of a particular insight by Dan Berrigan. Whether in regard to resistance to the Vietnam war, preparations for nuclear omnicide, or the slaughter in Iraq, Dan’s insight has been a perpetual sting to peacemakers because of the radical question of commitment it posed. Friends recently sent Shelley a beautifully scripted poster of Dan’s challenge to peacemakers. His words now hang in a frame over the mantle of Mary’s House, our Birmingham Catholic Worker house for homeless families:

  • Race Matters Workshop

    The Rochester Diversity Council, First Congregational United Church of Christ in Zumbrota, First Unitarian Universal Church, Peace United Church of Christ and the Rochester Area Foundation invite you to Race Matters.

    November 7-8, 2008
    Rochester, MN

    Victor Lewis, an internationally-recognized leader in the field of anti-oppression diversity work and alliance-building, will conduct a workshop on Race Matters.  He has 15 years of experience with diversity issues and violence prevention.  Part of his specialty is in helping create unified communities of commitment that can heal and dismantle racism.

    The purpose of the sessions is to provide in-depth conversation and leadership training about race and to encourage new initiatives for improved racial justice in our community.

    The Friday night lecture and two sessions on Saturday will be offered at no cost to participants but free-will contributions will be appreciated.
